Can you use spiking gel to scrunch your hair?

I have no gel to scrunch my hair, and ive tried mousse but it doesnt work. I was wondering if i can use Super Spike Gel by La Bella to scrunch my hair , or use it on my curly hair so it has that "wet" look throughout the day. PLEASE HELP!
