Whats a good bass amp setting to play metal?

I wanna be able to be heard through the guitars but dont know the right settings my equalizers are , low, low-mid, hi-mid, and high, what kind of way can i be able to cut through the guitars? I also have a swith saying frequency and notch. And is it bad to have high gain on bass? And what does clip mean on a bass amp? Thanks
