Just moved from Greece to Leeds. What do I do?

I have a british passport As i was born in Uk, Also NiN and signed on DSS, They say I cannot claim anything. Is this true?? I am unemployed and single and lookig for a Job. What should I do to get some help on some benefits until i eventually find a job? And what are the best recruiting agencies for IT as i am a graduate in IT.. thanks
