Turntable Questions: Equalizer and Needle?

Hi, I just got a turntable and I'm not really sure what I need to make it sound. I know I need an equalizer but im not sure about what kind it needs to be or what features it needs to have. The turntable is a Technics SL-Q5. Also the needle seems to be kinda worned out so if please someone could tell me what models of needle this turntable can use i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
